Term 3 Report!

Whoah! What an amazing Term it has been! A lot of big things to huge trips, to visitors, learning Fractions and Angles and more fun events have all just gone by really fast!

Well our school started the term with a huge Olympic Opening Ceremony with U.S.A from Room 12 winning most medals. Students were very fortunate and grateful to Mr Horan for taking his time into teaching students how to subtract, add, multiply and divide a lot faster. It helped really much in maintenance after maths during Maths time.

It was exciting to have three players from the one and only league team the “Junior Warriors” come to our school! They taught us really good techniques to use when we play our Rugby League tournament that we played during this term and happily for our school teams, they did really well! The Netball and Basketball teams, both boys and girls placed very well in sports as they took out the Eastern Zone coming 3rd.

You hear them all over the kids channels with their catchy songs and dances and apparently they are called “The Wiggles!” Well they were touring around the world for their very last tour so they came to our school and did a few items for everyone. They were amazing and it felt so unbelievable that they were just performing in our school hall.

Mr Untunga had been training a group of boys and girls for the Cross-Country tournament running around the long tracks of Churchill Park reserve. They did extremely well!
Fundraising all happening every single week as our school staff members planned that our whole school all go to Wellington. In Wellington we went to a lot of amazing but important landmarks such as the Parliament building which was very fascinating. We stayed down in Wellington from Monday 10th September to Friday 14th September 2012. While everything was happening there was a lot of filming going on for the Manaiakalani Film Festival.

To end this term our school had an extremely fun Blue Light Disco that started from 6pm to 8:30pm. It was an amazing event which students were given prizes for dancing and best dressed! Everyone who came enjoyed themselves.

Our Volleyball tournament is soon arriving and I have a good feeling that our girls and boys teams are going to take out the whole tournament! Thankfully and grateful to Mrs Parker for training us very well. We have got a big chance of coming 1st place.

This term for me was really fun and exciting. Waking up early each morning was worth coming to school for. Having this term finish is really sad but I cannot wait until next term!

My Father's Day Letter!

Dear Mrs Baker,

I am writing to tell you why my step dad deserves to win the “Caught Being a Good Dad” prize!

Well there is a lot that I could say about my step-dad. He walked into my life when I was four years old when at that age my own dad walked out but I only saw him through school holidays. I was only young but I realised that he was a role model that I looked up to not only myself but also my siblings and older brother did as well! He is an amazing person who works hard and also provides for my needs and our family.

At times when I go out and come home late, he is always out in the streets looking for me and stopping in at friend’s houses to ask where I am or where they last saw me. When there are tough stages in life that most young teenagers face in reality he understands me and turns my frown upside down!

My step-dad would have to be the most perfect Islander chef in the world as he knows how to cook all kinds of meals that you would only see prepared over in the Islands. I find that when he is around the whole household is so full of happiness but when he is not, well everyone turns so quiet and looks so bored! When there is money that he worked hard for he always makes sure that most of his money is given to my siblings and I  to buy us things that we love to spend money on.

Life without my step-dad  I suppose I would be the type of young lady that does not know discipline, would only think negative and would not be strong at all at  defending myself.   He helps me with school work and supports me a lot even though he can’t really read a lot of English but it’s kind of funny listening to his pronunciation of some words.

When he was a young gentleman he said that the things he buys for me, he did not even get anything compared to the expensive things he used to buy for me. My step- dad is the type of person who likes to keep the peace between my whole entire family, but wow he is such a hilarious comedian that does quite a few weird acts at times. At dinner times when there is a big feed cooked, he makes sure that everyone gets a plate but I always see him taking the pots or dishes and eating everything with the pots left with nothing left  inside at all! He is an amazing step dad who makes me feel like I am waking up each morning in a dream and I love him so much!

Well to be honest my step dad deserves this prize because he is an amazing step dad and not only makes me happy but also everyone around.

Sincerely Yours

Tamika

Tamika's Moment of Excellence!

Everyday I had come home with a lot of sweat pouring down my face and wanting to strive for excellence taking over my brain and mind determined to be at least the fastest runner in my five year old cross country age group like a cheetah running to catch its prey! I knew that if I had the time to practice, the guts to ask my uncle to train me and also my determined mind to do it then I knew that I was going to come 1st place and as well strive for excellence by winning the trophy and certificate.

The day finally arrived with myself and ten other girls lined up to run half of the school cross country field with myself thinking of how hard I trained and the word to strive for EXCELLENCE in my head as the blocks clapped as loud as lightning banging up in the dark blue sky. Everyone cheered me on as I was focused hard on at least coming 1st place when I had realised that every time a girl caught up to me taking the lead, I would cut her off by going into her on the same lane that she was running in. There was a change on the field as the cones that were there for all of the runners to directly see where they were going was changed because the organisers could see that we were all just running only a quarter of the field so they made people to yell out to the runners including me as we were heading into the finish line to run another lap around the same place that we were all running.

My grandmother and a few people could see that I was not concentrating on them trying to tell me where to go but I did not notice them. I could feel the tension as I raised my hands up in the air happy then ever that I had finished but everyone looked directly straight towards me as I had gone red thinking that I had not ran another lap. Everyone of the other girls finished puffing hard out as when I finished I was not even near tired but when they announced the winners of third, second and first places my name was not even called out in any of those categories. My head had slouched through the whole prize giving for sports as I heard a voice call out my name as I looked up everyone pushed me up onto the stage as I received 1st place with a certificate and trophy as they told me that they had made a mistake on forgetting to put my name in the first place category.

I looked on to the certificate as it said "Tamika for Excellence in 5 year old running placing 1st place!"
Then as I thought over in my head if I did not put my time to train or the guts of asking my uncle to train me and was also not determined to come first place and strive for excellence then I would have not got a trophy or certificate so I was very proud of myself!

Cooking Class Reflection!

Last Friday we had cooking class for Technology which we just started for thirteen weeks.
We made toasted sandwiches with all of these delicious ingredients to use which was very different to me because at my house, I have never ever cooked my own meal.

We got right to work cooking as a group of three and my group got very good compliments from our cooking teacher saying we were doing really well. We all finished and got stuck into eating our delicious homemade toasted sandwiches.

Cooking class was really enjoyable and I learnt how to cook using a pan and also making toasted Sandwiches.
